WHAT:

Northwest Sports Inc. announces Washington State vs. Utah December 22nd, 2005 in Seattle at KeyArena. This is the first in what may become an annual event that will include WSU at KeyArena. The Emerald City currently hosts an annual WSU football game. Men’s Basketball hopes to enjoy similar success while allowing fans, alumni, and students on Christmas break to see a traditional top 20 team play against the Cougars.

The opponent for WSU will be the Utes from University of Utah. Ray Giacoletti will be coming back to Washington for the first time since leaving EWU and taking over the Utes. Utah is currently ranked 15 in both major college polls. The other side will feature coaching legend Dick Bennett in his final season roaming a college basketball bench. Dick and WSU are enjoying resurgence since his arrival on campus with high expectations for the 2005-2006 season. Fox, ESPN, and CSTV have expressed interest in this made for television contest, time will TBD.
