Washington State guards Derrick Low and Kyle Weaver were picked for the 12-man U.S. basketball team that begins play next week.
“We’re so very proud of these guys and all I can say is, ‘Wow!’ ” WSU coach Tony Bennett said.
Low and Weaver, the first two Cougars to play for the U.S. in men’s basketball at the Pan Am Games, were among 14 finalists selected last weekend. The last two players cut were Josh Carter of Texas A&M and Bryce Taylor of Oregon.
Jay Wright of Villanova coaches the U.S. team, which plays its first game next Wednesday against Uruguay.
